06/07/2012- Luka Modric Agrees Terms With Madrid

Luka Modric has today reportedly agreed personal terms with Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has been the epicentre of a transfer saga that has lasted for more than a year, involving a number of teams. Since 2008, Modric has made 127 appearances, scoring 13 goals. He is known for his direct running and decisive passes.

With him joining ‘The Galacticos’ it begs the question if any of Real’s stars will leave as to make room. Kaka has had a torrid time in Spain after his huge transfer fee there in the summer of 2009. Another player whose future has been thrown into doubt is Lassana Diarra, who is interesting the Turkish duo of Galatasaray and Fenebache.

It is well-known that Modric had a lot of respect for Harry Redknapp, so it isn’t a shock to me that he has left after Redknapp has been sacked. Andre Villas Boas obviously hasn’t made the right impression, and the signing of Gylfi Sigurdsson earlier this week confirms the competition that Modric will face in the coming season, or maybe it was just preparation for a player they knew would leave.
